Pulled shut,
but not locked.
When you pull a door closed, the latch engages. On an ordinary door, the bolt only extends when you lock it with a key. Self-locking doors may work differently. If you do not know the type, tell us when you call.
Key inside: please tell us straight away
A key on the inside does not automatically mean that the cylinder must be replaced. We need to know whether the door was only pulled shut and what fittings it has. If needed, send us a photo of the door and fittings.
Can the door be opened without damage?
A door that has only been pulled shut can often be opened without damage. We inspect the door and explain the available methods. If damage is likely, we discuss it with you before starting.
What happens to the existing lock?
If the lock and cylinder work after opening and all keys are accounted for, a replacement is not necessary just because the door fell shut. If the door has been sticking for some time, please tell us.
Was it actually locked with a key?
Then the bolt is engaged in the frame. Read our guidance on opening a locked door.
